I was wondering if it's just me or is there NO such thing as true customer service anymore. Besides the automated maze you get when you call any office or credit card company nowadays, when you actually DO get a human being on the phone do they actually SERVE you? My answer is a big NO! I notice it when I ask where something is in a store. When I was a kid, they would SHOW you, now they point and mumble something remotely audible and send you wandering aimlessly. When I have the baby with me, I ask them to show me, I just don't have the time anymore.
What made me think of this was the other day after a loooong deal with our insurance company just making sure they changed our address in their system so we would show up in the right network so Noah could go get his vaccinations. One person said "Sure we did, go right ahead!" Next person I called (just to make sure) said "I have no record of anything here." GRRRRR! So once that was finally done (I hope) I called because they sent us new cards but they didn't have Noah's primary care physician on it.
As a sidenote here, I start every conversation with a "Hi Paula (or whatever their name is) how are you?" I always want to see if they are in a good mood cuz people have probably been yelling at them all day. Anyway, when I said this the other day, the woman replied with a dull, "What can I do for you ma'am?" (I hate being called ma'am)I told her the sitch and she said (in a "Geez aren't you an idiot!" manner) "You know you can just go to the website and select find a physician, then put in your zip code, register your ID number, select the physician...blah blah...and we'll send you a new card"
After I jiggled my brain around a minute, I simply said, "Can't you do it now since you have all of the info right in front of you?" I kid you not, she SIGHED so loudly and said, "Alright hold on." ARE YOU KIDDING ME?????? My holding on took about 20 seconds and it was done. What would've taken me forever at home with baby, dogs, and computer mumbo jumbo and she could've just said, "I can take care of that for you right now!" I could go on and on with example after example but I'd rather hear yours.
In the words of Meredith from "Grey's Anatomy"......SERIOUSLY!!!

wow. some people, i tell ya! i recently signed up for directv and all the people i talked to were very helpful and seemed to patiently listen and understand what i wanted but when they actually signed me up it was for a plan that was $20 more per month than i wanted. they must get bonuses for signing people up for certain plans. that's the only reason i can think of why they would do something so different from what i asked. anyway, luckily i caught it right away and called to fix it. wish we could vent together in person!
Why is it that every time you call any costumer service number they say, "Don't you know you can just do this on the internet". Thanks man, but if everyone did it on the internet you wouldn't have a job. When are you moving back?
p.s. I just watched the videos below. He is so handsome, and what a cute voice. He cracks me up.
Seriously, seriously!! I totally agree with you and can empathize all too well. In Keane's words, "Ahh Nuts or Oh Golly!"
I will never forget when a girl told me her manager was too busy helping customers to talk to me. I looked at her straight in the eyes and said "CUSTOMERS??? I'M A CUSTOMER AND I WANT TO TALK WITH HIM NOW!" There are too many lazy people out there these days. You're getting paid by the hour... Do your freakin job!
