What a difference a year can make! Last Christmas, I awoke early in the morning and ran to the bathroom to see if my suspicions were correct and I would be giving Aaron the most wonderful Christmas news ever! Usually during the wonderful holiday season, I am going chocolate crazy but when Aaron kept coming through the door with sweet goodies from his customers I just kept saying to him, "Nah, you have them, I'm not into chocolate right now." NOT INTO CHOCOLATE RIGHT NOW??!!! That was strange so I thought I either had some strange disease in which the big tip off you were about to kick the bucket was a chocolate aversion, or the more likely theory....I was pregnant. We had only been trying for a couple of months and not expecting too much for awhile but I just had "that feeling" I had expected the 3 minutes of waiting for the lines to appear or not to appear to be agony full of mixed emotions. I had no time to finish one thought. The pink lines couldn't wait to appear and tell me "YOU ARE SO PREGNANT...GET READY!!" Aaron came in the door from a dogsitting job a few minutes later and I just couldn't hold it together. I had bought us an advent calendar and instead of candies for each day of December, we had been leaving notes for eachother. The wooden door for Christmas day was the perfect size for me to fit the pregnancy tests in with a note wrapped around saying, "Merry Christmas....Daddy".
Fast forward to Christmas 2008 and we've gone through a pregnancy, a tough birth, a career change for me, UCLA grad for Aaron and a move from sunny California to not so sunny Seattle. Those are just the big things.
As I'm looking back all I can think about is how incredibly blessed I am to have the most beautiful boy I could ever dream of. He is so full of joy it is contagious! Noah is only 4 months old and he teaches me more about life every day with his exhuberance and purity.
My sweetie pie of a Dad surprised my mom and flew me and the little man to St. George for an early Christmas. Aaron couldn't come because FedEx owns him for the holidays. I only get visitation every now and then, it's nuts. Anyhoo, so my mom was over the moon and then some to see us. The day we flew into Vegas was the day it snowed there like crazy. It snowed in St. George as well.
The next day my mom made a snowman for Noah....awwww. Of course they spoiled him with lots of outfits and darling toys but best of all they showered him with love love love and he soaked it UP! He loved the goofy guy with the camera (my dad) and was a little showboat for him. My parents dog, BJ wasn't quite sure what to think of this little intruder taking the attention away from him but he adjusted. When you could peel him away from my mom, he slept so good. No noisy neighbors or insomniac parents (hi Aaron) getting up at 3:30am and waking him up. He clocked in 10 hours every night. I caught up on some much needed zzz's as well. I never sleep in our new place for the above stated reasons.
Can you believe the darling pics my dad took? Can you believe the darling kid in them? Can you believe how obnoxious I get about my baby? Sorry.
Unfortuately, there was a BIG storm coming into Seattle and Aaron was scared we wouldn't make it back in time for Christmas so we had to leave a day early. My mommy feeling said this was the right decision and wouldn't you know it, as soon as we landed, the snow began to fall and didn't stop for days. This was a throwback to my Utah Christmas snows but with one major exception: Utah is used to snow and has plows out the second flakes start falling. Seattle......no way. The streets here have been a disaster to say the least. Thankfully we have been getting rain the past few days and its melting away so people can dig their cars out now. Yes, you heard me right...I said I was thankful for the rain up here. Only cuz its melting the massive snow ok. Here's a couple of pics of the parking lot and some of my neighbors cars....yikes!
Here's our balcony after the first wave of snow was done with us. Pretty hu? That was a tiny Christmas tree in the middle of the patio table.
So my lovely Carrie braved the snow and risked life and limb to take me and Noah home from the airport. We three Wise's had a quiet Christmas dinner that I cooked and we just spent the day together. It's rare we have time together so we just enjoyed and relaxed. We didn't exchange gifts this year because we are broke due to the move so we just focused on our blessings of being together and knowing that we didn't need anything anyway.
I hope all of you know how much I miss you every day. I am so grateful for my friends that lift me up and keep me smiling. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!

Jen, Aaron and Noah, Merry Christmas!!
What a great recap of the last year. The advent calender note (Merry Christmas . . . Daddy!) was great. You are so clever.
Sweetie, you should write book/columns/..ANYTHING. Great Stuff! Well, know you know the intense love and fulfillment that being a mother brings, and the great honor that I have enjoyed as your Mama. Noah is truly a gift, and has completed the Circle of Love in our family. Here's hoping for a wonderful New Year !!
